May Monster Madness: Day 7
We've reached the final day of May Monster Madness, and I would like to thank MMM super villain, Annie Walls, and my co-henchman, Ked, of Something Wicked this Way Comes, for all their hard work in organizing and promoting this event. I'd also like to thank all of the awesome bloggers who participated and made this blog hop a great success.
For this last post, I am doing a giveaway. I usually make little vampire and ghost dolls, but May Monster Madness inspired me to design a little monster.
If you would like a chance to win my Little Gothic Horror, all you have to do to enter is suggest a name for him and leave it in the comments. I will assign a number to each comment in the order that they are left and the winner will be chosen via the Random.org Random Number Generator. Please make sure you leave me some way to contact you. This giveaway is open internationally. Entries close on Sunday 19th, at 11.00 pm Eastern US time.
This giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered. See the results here.

May Monster Madness: Day 6

The Penguin in Batman Returns
As we draw nearer to the May Monster Madness finish line, I just wanted to say how impressed I am by all the enthusiasm and hard work that so many of you have put into making this blog festival a success. I'm sure you're probably getting a little exhausted by now, but I hope you have enjoyed yourselves too! For tomorrow, the final day, I have planned a little surprise, but in the meantime...
For Day 6 of May Monster Madness, I have chosen Oswald Cobblepot (Danny DeVito), also known as the Penguin, for my "monster". Prior to the movie, Batman Returns (1992), the character of the Penguin, in comics and on TV, was portrayed as a short, rotund mobster and thief who fancied himself a "gentleman of crime". He was characterized as a man with a love of birds and a penchant for using umbrellas that invariably doubled as weapons of some kind. Tim Burton, however, re-imagined the character as a deformed outcast who, rejected by his aristocratic parents, ended up a freak-show performer. This much darker incarnation of the Penguin is grotesque and has a homicidal desire for revenge against the more affluent citizens of Gotham City.

May Monster Madness: Day 5
For Day 5 of May Monster Madness, I have chosen a couple of "monsters" from the movie, The Frighteners (1996). Johnny Bartlett (Jake Busey) and Patricia Bradley (Dee Wallace-Stone) start out as serial killers, or in other words, human monsters, but then the evil becomes supernatural when Johnny finds a way to continue his killing spree after his death by execution. An older Patricia, who as a minor had escaped the death penalty, helps Johnny when he returns from the grave as a Grim Reaper style entity, crushing the hearts of his victims.

May Monster Madness: Day 4

The Hessian/The Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow
Another favourite movie of mine is Sleepy Hollow (1999), so for Day 4 of May Monster Madness, my "monster" is the Hessian/Headless Horseman (Christopher Walken).
In Tim Burton's re-imagining of Washington Irving's short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is a young police officer sent to investigate slayings in the New York hamlet of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod discovers that the ghost of a Hessian mercenary, who takes the form of a Headless Horseman, is terrorizing the village.

May Monster Madness: Day 3
David in The Lost Boys
For Day 3 of May Monster Madness, I continue with my theme of featuring a "monster" selected from a favourite film. Back in the good old days, before teen vampires sparkled, there was David (Kiefer Sutherland) from The Lost Boys. He was the leader of a vampire gang that prowled the boardwalk of the Santa Carla amusement park looking for victims to drain and new undead recruits.

May Monster Madness: Day 2

The Sandworm in Beetlejuice
On each day of May Monster Madness, I'm featuring a different "monster" from some of my favourite movies. Today it's the Sandworm from Beetlejuice.
After their untimely deaths, Barbara and Adam Maitland discover they are ghosts, destined to haunt their former home. Any attempt to cross the boundary of their allotted haunting results in them being thrown into another dimension, referred to as "Saturn", populated by giant, menacing sandworms.
